Oil change for my Ford LW Focus Sport

Ford Focus LW oil change

I haven't done any work on my Ford Focus for a while but today I did an oil change.

I had six litres of Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 A5 -- Castrol is the brand recommended by Ford and this oil is the one recommended for this model on the Castrol Australia website -- and a K&N SO-1002 oil filter.

I had also bought a sump plug and washers from Aliexpress, but I soon discovered that I had bought the wrong size. Some models use M14 x 1.5 and some use M12 x 1.75. I'm not sure how to tell which model uses which size, but I can report that mine has the M12 and this uses an M15 socket.

The cover under the engine is a bit of a pain if you are working in your own driveway as you have to raise the front of the car to get access to all eight of the screws.

Aside from the tightness of the drain plug and oil filter and the usual mess, all went well and the Focus now has some fresh oil.

With the success of one of my previous vinyl wrap projects I bought some more 3cm wide matte black vinyl to see what the chrome strips under the side windows look like all in black. This looks a bit harder to do but I will be doing that as my next project shortly.
