The quality was not great on early models but improved over time.
Automatic transmissions can be problematic and require expensive replacement. The transfer box on all-wheel-drive models is another common problem area.
They can also suffer poor ride and handling due to suspension wear.
Although the X-type was built under Ford ownership and on the same platform as the Mondeo, Jaguar prices can be excessive. It can be an expensive car to keep on the road.
