Lexus IS200 and IS300 (XE10) 1998-2005 Review

A mostly reliable model.

The smaller-engined IS200 needs revs to move briskly, the IS300 is more powerful.

Front suspension components can wear and require routine replacement. Uneven and excessive tyre wear is common.

Clutch judder is common and can lead to gearbox problems.

Replacement windscreens can leak causing problems.

Both engines use timing belts that require replacement every 150,000km or 6 years.

Lexus parts can be expensive.
