How to disable the headlights being on at all times in phase 2 Volvo S40/V40

If you don't like that the headlights on your phase 2 Volvo S40/V40 come on straight away when you turn the ignition on, you can turn this feature off.

The procedure to turn off daytime running lights (DRL) is actually in the handbook, but easy to miss.

1. Ignition off
2. Turn light switch to first position (parking lights on)
3. Turn key to second position (ignition on)
4. Pull main beam lever towards you
5. Turn light switch off

This will toggle DRL on and off.
