Instrument cluster repair

The digital displays on our Mercedes have been getting worse over time and were at the point where you couldn't see the time or the outside temperature, and it was difficult to see the mileage.

The proper fix for this is to replace the cables to each of the displays.

But the cheap and simpler fix is to squash something behind where the cables connect to try and improve the connection.

I opted for the cheap and simpler fix.

It was difficult to get the instrument cluster out but after a little advice online I managed to get it out.

I put a piece of thin rubber behind each of the displays.

The result? Time is now visible. Outside temperature and mileage are improved but not perfect.
