My Beta Eikon 150 scooter

Around 2006 we bought this Beta Eikon 150cc scooter for my wife to learn to ride on.

It had travelled around 16,000 km and was around $1,500 from a motorcycle dealer in Sydney's Northern Beaches area.

Here are the original photos from the for sale advertisement.

These are an Italian brand of scooter but have a Kymco (Chinese) engine.

It was reasonably powerful and it could do up to around 120 km/h.

Throughout our ownership we had problems with the cooling system and overheating. It was water-cooled and it sometimes leaked coolant and we replaced a cracked thermostat housing and the two long radiator hoses trying to fix it.

I finally think I fixed the problem once and for all once I realised that although the radiator cap had a pressure relief spring, there was nowhere for the pressure to be relieved to. I drilled a small hole in the top side of the coolant tank in between the radiator cap seal and the top of the tank.
